A few days ago I saw A Serbian Film. There has been a lot of hype around this film with claims of “goriest movie ever” and tales of how the printing company refusing to make an actual print for cinemas due to the content contained in the film and people getting sick and walking out. Make no mistake, this is one hard film to watch and in some ways does live up to the hype surrounding it.

Film Review with Robert Mann - Other Side of the Game
Other Side of the Game ***½
London based crime movies are ten a penny in the British film industry and films featuring characters who are drug dealers are every bit as common so coming up with anything even remotely original in the genre is hardly an easy thing to achieve.

Megamind 2D ***½
Following up Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me, DreamWorks Animation’s Megamind is this year’s second supervillain themed animated movie, the manner in which the two films have come very close together seemingly duplicating DreamWorks’ past rivalry with fellow animation studio Pixar which saw both Antz and A Bug’s Life released in close proximity to one another as well as Shark Tale and Finding Nemo.

After Dark's New Film... HUSK!
After Dark are best known for what is in my opinion the best horror film festival (apart from Frightfest in London of course) After Dark Horrorfest: 8 Films To Die For.
Every year they come up with a great selection of horror films that will find their way to you eventually. And every so often then finance and release one under the After Dark Films label.

An action thriller set aboard a train that stars Denzel Washington and is directed by Tony Scott – where have I seen that before? Oh, that’s right, it was last year’s The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. Apparently, Tony Scott and Denzel Washington are really into trains right now as their latest film (their fifth collaboration)

DVD Review: Big Tits Zombie (in 3D!)
It'll be to approximately no-ones surprise that Big Tits Zombie is a Japanese movie. Based on a Manga comic, it's a simple, classic tale of small town strippers versus the undead. Obviously.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 ****
“The motion picture event of a generation” – this is the bold claim made by the first trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Whether or not any film can actually make such a claim without seeming self righteous is debatable but in the case of Harry Potter it is quite possibly the truth.

The 10 Biggest Summer Blockbusters Of 2011?
The summer blockbuster season is or at least should be when the best, big budgeted movies come out. Although the last few years it has been almost exclusive to remakes and sequels such as last summers Iron Man 2, The Karate Kid, The A-Team and of course Twilight to name a few on a very long list there were still a few original films that brought back some faith in the summer blockbuster. I’m looking at you Inception and The Expendables.

When Disaster Strikes Or... When Singers Act!
Let's be fair this subject is a bit old hat and the titles a bit unfair. But often musicians (through there own choice or at the insistence of agents and producers) find themselves trading lines with seasoned professionals with, usually, mixed results.

Skyline: A Quick Review By Lostzombie
Some times you come out of a film just feeling good. I’m not sure why but I think Skyline just did it to me. The less you know about the story and plot the better.
It's one of those films that plays out better when you don’t have a clue where its going or what will happen. That how I went in, just a real quick teaser trailer and a very cool poster and I was sold.
Skyline is essentially what a 1960’s alien invasion B-movie would look like by today’s fx heavy standards and if you can over look the at times real bad acting and poor script you will have a great time with this.

Paranormal Activity has a lot to answer for. Costing only $15,000 to make, its huge success at the box office has opened the door for a whole new kind of filmmaking to emerge on a big scale – filmmakers making films for low budgets free of interference from meddling studio executives. This is something that liberates filmmakers to make the films that they want to make without having to worry about things such as whether the property is commercially viable or casting actors who are bankable.

Film Preview - For Colored Girls

Preview
Unless you saw his appearance on the 24th May 2010 episode of The Graham Norton Show or noticed him in his rather obscure cameo appearance as the head of Starfleet Academy in last year’s Star Trek movie, the name Tyler Perry is unlikely to mean much to any British people reading this.
After all, it was only this September that a Tyler Perry film first got released in this country despite his films having been like clockwork in American cinemas – where he is currently eight for eight in the box office hit department –

Film Review with Robert Mann - You Again
You Again **
The concept for You Again is one of those that is almost timeless and that has great comic potential, dealing with themes that could readily be applied to almost any era and that many, young or old, will undoubtedly be able to relate to – the horrors of high school and having that one person who just made your life a living hell.

Film Review with Robert Mann - Due Date
Due Date ***
Last year’s The Hangover was the perfect example of a sleeper hit, a film that came out of nowhere and with just one hilarious trailer and stellar word of mouth became one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of the year, hype that promptly turned it into both one of the best reviewed films and one of the biggest box office successes of 2009, even outgrossing some of the year’s biggest blockbuster movies.

Cause Rare Exports is coming to Cinemas!
Disturbing Memories
*Spoilers on the horizon*
When I was young slip of boy I was pretty much scared of most horror films. I genuinely didn't want to take a bath after seeing Jaws The Revenge as a five year old. When I see it now I laugh at what a fool I was and basically every aspect of that film. When I watched Critters I had to keep checking under all the sofas and beds in my house for creepy little fuzz balls and the first time I watched The X-Files episode 'Squeeze' I couldn't go anywhere near ventilation covers or fire places.

Film Review with Robert Mann - Let Me In
Let Me In ****½
Let Me In is the first horror movie to be released by Hammer Film Productions in more than thirty years, their last horror feature being 1976’s To The Devil A Daughter. You may think the return of Hammer, the production studio responsible for producing some of the most iconic horror movies ever made (or the British ones at least), would be a pretty big deal but, alas, this is not the Hammer that many horror fans have known and loved over the years.

DVD Review: Shooting Robert King
Originating as a documentary for the BBC, Shooting Robert King is a fascinating and often dark look into the world of war photography and journalism. Despite being a hotch-potch of footage shot over 15 years, Richard Parry's film is coherent, well paced and ultimately riveting.

Movie Review: Mega Piranha (TV)

According to imdb.com Mega Piranha is classified as an “action, horror, sci-fi” film, when in fact this made for TV movie should be categorised under “sad, really, really sad”. Yes, folks, this is one of those movies that would make any reviewer weep and repent for their sins (and not in a good way). The acting was weak, the CGI was pathetic and not to mention that the dialogue pretty much sucked! And that’s me being nice about it!

Frozen - A Review
Horror isn’t usually the sort of film I like, not because I get scared too easy it’s just that some of the concepts of horror films sound more suited to be a comedy film, so three people trapped on a ski lift over night is just right, hell this is nearly a rip off from the best episode of Bottom.

Review - The House That Drips Blood On Alex
'Based on a Story'
Usually I wouldn't bother wasting your time with a review of a viral film. But this I think is an exception. The House That Drips Blood on Alex is the master Tommy Wiseau's follow up to the 2003 classic The Room. Seven years in the making and 12 mins in length. House is nearly worth the wait.

Burke and Hare ***
As inspirations for comedies go, it would probably hard to find one more macabre than that of Burke and Hare, the new comedy from John Landis, the director of such films as Animal House, The Blues Brothers and Trading Places who has been largely out of the picture since directing 1998’s Blues Brothers 2000, which stars Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis as the titular duo.
