Terrible Idea...

What do Spiderman, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Urban Cowboy, Young Frankenstein, Shrek, Cry-baby, Tarzan and Carrie have in common...?

BIKINIS!

Dr No, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary next year, has topped the ‘best swimwear scene’ in a film poll conducted by beachwear specialists Trixan Body.

Ursula Andress emerging from the water in her white bikini with seawater pouring from her body stands out for nearly a quarter of those polled while a further 10 per cent of respondents think Halle Berry’s homage to the Dr No scene in Die Another Day is their favourite.

INTERVIEW WITH RUTGER HAUER

Q: The reaction to Hobo With A Shotgun has been nothing short of phenomenal – and rightly so.
RUTGER HAUER: I’m pleasantly shocked at how well the film’s been received, because I really didn’t see that coming. I knew that there was quite a following, but the fact that part of the [movie] establishment also came on board and were so friendly, rather than being upset and pissed off, is great. I guess the film is very clear about what it promises to tell you.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, three months into his redundancy, following a blazing row with his wife, John Foster lists himself for sale on an online auction site. Chris, his best friend, gives news reporter Maia Long unrivalled access to the biggest story of her fledgling career.

The Dark Africa Horrorfest

In South Africa, horror is a dying genre, not because horror isn't being produced, but simply because horror is not being seen by the right people in the right places.  The Dark Africa Horrorfest aims to demolish that and bring independent horror films from over the world straight to Pretoria, South Africa. They strive to bring a whole new market to people from South Africa and broaden the distribution opportunities for these independent films and film companies.

Short Film Review - Madeleine Zabel

Dir/Prod/Scr: Chris Shimojima
Starring: Jenna D'Angelo, Chris Henry Coffey, Kelly Walters

In recent years TV land has seen a resurgence in shows that take a look at the rich and powerful... and sexy. Dynasty and Dallas seem like chicken feed compared to the hedonism on show from the ten a penny American dramas which I churned out series after series. We're now in a mire of "reality" shows that show us the wealthy... and sexy. It's certainly nothing new in the world of media to be obsessed with celebrity, no matter how minor, but it seems that we can not escape it no matter where we turn our heads.

DVD Review: Hobo With A Shotgun

As film titles go this one gets you with both barrels (sigh). You'll be forgiven for thinking that this is going to be a marketing execs wet dream...."yeah the daily mail has given us a kick in across the front page, we're gonna be so rich we wont even be able to understand the concept of money!"

It's not that film.

The guys behind it have neatly wrapped up everything that I love about late 80s cinema, or more importantly the VHS market at the time. Hobo reminds me of that little video shop that first introduced me to Critters, Robocop and Raw Deal as well as scampi and lemon flavour Nik Naks when I was 8 or 9. All the lurid covers with guns and explosions, words like MAXIMUM and VENGEANCE also the most coveted thing of all when your 8 or 9, the holy grail of coolness, the little round 18 certificate!

Nazis Vs The Ultimate Evil…

Nazi’s vs. The Ultimate Evil… Yes, you read that right…
(Score By Tangerine Dream)
A Review of The Keep (1983)
By Damien Sage

I’m sure many of you have had a wonderful dream (or terrifying nightmare) filled with fantastic, unforgettable, wholly unique sights and sounds… then awoken to only half remember bits and pieces of said sensory perceptions, if even that much. Why bring this up you ask? Because, in essence, that is Michael Mann’s 1983 film The Keep (or at the very least, what has caused people to so fondly remember it after such a long and relatively obscured time.)

Evil Rising

Now, this looks immense.

The year is 1595 and the long and barbaric war between Russia and Sweden is finally over. During this time of welcome peace, brothers Erik and Knut are among two small groups of men commissioned to mark new borders separating Finland from Russia, an arduous task that takes them though the cold and desolate countryside. Along the way, an encounter with a man Erik believes to be a Russian sympathizer results in a brutal murder and the committing of an even worse sin by the two brothers – leaving a young girl to die a slow, horrifying death.

Shut Up Little Man (EDIT: Trailer Is Up!)

Just wanted to tell you that Tribeca Film has acquired Shut Up Little Man: An Audio Misadventure. It's not your typical documentary, but it’s completely original and demonstrates what going viral meant... 20 years before viral existed!

The film premiered in competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and has played in New Directors/New Films and the True/False Film Festival. It will be released end of August/September on VOD and in cinemas. This film has all the makings of a cult hit for years to come.

Millers Crossing :Ghetto Cast Review

This is another one of those films that I saw a few years ago but at the time I never fully appreciated how brilliant it really was. When it comes to the works of the Coen brothers there are so many bloody good films to chose from. Whether its oddball comedy or thought provoking drama, chances are the Coen brothers have had a "go" at the Genre. Im usually not an avid fan of "Period Piece" films as I have seen a few of them done terribly but in watching this film I was amazed at how much attention to detail there was going into the film which was a pleasant surprise compared to some of the terrible period pieces I have seen in the past. "Millers Crossing" features 2 Actors whom I believe never really got the credit they deserved in Hollywood and 1 Actor whom I believe should of been Giant among the more mature Actors of today. I'm referring to Steve Buscemi and Marcia Gay Harden. Steve Buscemi is usually used as the punchy bit part Actor who makes a huge Impact in the short amount of screen time he is given (Desperado, Con Air, The Big Lebowski) the man has this down to an Art Form. To be able to do this requires a "Hell" of a lot of skill and charm. In his scenes in most films people find themselves drawn to his characters and in this film he is no different. Than we have Marcia Gay Harden. I first noticed her in Frank Darabont's "The Mist" which her portrayal of Crazed Religious fanatic "Rose Barlow" honestly "creeped the shit outta me". She was that convincing to a fault. Than I got to see her work again in Clint Eastwoods powerful "Mystic River" in which I felt she stood out amongst the "Stacked" ensemble cast which she worked with in that film which is by any means no small feat. Than we go onto the Actor whom I feel was the Power behind "Millers Crossing" and I believe should be up amongst the Deniro's and Pacino's of our time. Albert Finney (you thought I was gonna say Gabriel Byrne dind't you) I believe is an Actor who IS being under utilized by Hollywood and. Albert Finney and Brian Cox (I know but I couldn't help myself I'm a huge Brian Cox fan) are 2 Actors whom I believe should have greater status in Hollywood. Both are renown Powerful performers who flawlessly portray any emotion they are given. Albert Finney pretty much sets the tone for "Millers Crossing" with the brilliant finishing touches provided by Gabriel Byrne, John Turturro and the rest of this brilliant cast.

Twister 2: The Revenge By Damien Sage

I was a part of a rather interesting experience on Saturday April 16th, 2011. (No, not an Asian gang bang orgy, that was April 14th.) My would be husband, Adam, and I decided to go for a nice little walk in the warm summery rain… That walk then turned into a nightmare… Bump, bump, baaaa! (But seriously, it did.)

I will now preface the forth coming information, with a little back story. Adam and I are quite different, in a lot of ways, but we do of course have numerous things that bond us together and make us that magical, special, “something” that defines love. One of those things is a near sexual lust for disaster films, in particular the 90’s variety; Dante’s Peak, Volcano and of course… Twister.

Siren: Review

By a desert road, an attractive woman is putting the finishing touches to her makeup and struggling to contain herself in a tight, red dress. With long hair and high heels, she is an embodiment of female sexuality and her placement here as a sultry damsel in distress is somewhat unlikely and subtly intriguing.

Love Life: Review

Taboo has always made for good swearing material. With dirty English tongues, we talk about intercourse, illegitimacy and naughty bits. Generally rather liberal in their attitudes to sex yet troubled by disease, the Dutch have made 'Kanker' their profanity of choice.
